I have a black thumb -- or at least I do when I try to actually tend to my plants -- but now that I'm living in the land of tulips, should I actually plant the tulip bulbs now (in pots) rather than spring? I'm clueless, but I have a decent terrace garden that I'd like to make something of for a change. We have a potted apple tree that I'm going to be picking any day now to make some appeltarts!

Hello Renee - congrats on your upcoming arrival, and I just wanted to say that I love your posts! As an aspiring but still fairly inexperienced gardener, I am always looking for practical tips on what to plant when, etc! Thanks for all the great suggestions!

I will miss these posts while you are gone. I love hearing about all of the gardening possibilities.

Best of luck in the next few months with your new little one and new life:)

Alison--generally you plant bulbs in the season opposite their bloom time (Spring blooming bulbs are planted in fall). Mmmm, apple tarts sound amazing, send me one!

Anjuli A--Thank you! I'm so glad you've found my posts helpful, and I'm already looking forward to coming back in the Spring :)

Christine (C&S)--You're so sweet, and thank you for the momma perspective and advice! I need all the words of wisdom I can get!
