Made By Anna

I discovered this shop earlier today from the etsy front page, and was instantly smitten!

Made by Anna

Made by Anna is home to these simply adorable paper collages. I love that they're all originals and available for only $20. Made mostly from found, vintage and recycled papers, they're eco-friendly too, a great way to re-use all those junkmail credit card offers, hmm?

Tyson Anthony Roberts

These abstract landscape paintings by Tyson Anthony Roberts, a Seattle based painter are pretty interesting. I love how they convey a sense of place through just line and color. And the straightness of the lines give them a graphic feel, like a pixelated version of the world around us (or maybe I just think that because I sit in front of this computer too damn long everyday :)

Eco-Friendly Find: Focus Line Art

Eco-friendlyfindsliz

I think I hinted at my love of bare wood accented with bright colors in last week's post. Well, I wrote that post, and then I saw these. And then I almost fell out of my chair.
Focuslineart1

Artist Tracy Melton takes dead red and white Elm trees, cuts them into slices, and adds his own brightly-colored tree rings to them with acrylic paint. Each piece is sanded and clear coated 3 times to accentuate the wood, then painted and clear coated again. They are hollowed out from behind for mounting.

Focuslineart2

Each piece is a unique combination of the characteristics of the branch and the palette of the rings. I personally am a fan of the more irregularly-shaped slices. Sold in sets of three and available in various sizes, these paintings can stand alone or be combined to create an amazing statement on your wall.

PDX Local: Urban Weeds

I've been following the new Portland street style blog, Urban Weeds, since post #1 and loving every moment of it. A collaboration between photographer Lisa Warninger and blogger/stylist Chelsea Fuss, it's a magical mix of street fashion blog, portrait photography, and style commentary.

Urbanweeds1

I love the gorgeous black & white portraits paired with stylish full length photos- they show off both the incredible city we live in and the lovely people that inhabit it.

Urbanweeds2

See more urban style from all around this fair city over at Urban Weeds, and take home a bit of it for yourself from their new etsy shop.

As for me, I'm going to have to make sure I look cute when I leave the house from now on! You know, just in case I see two girls with a camera coming my way...

Now you can say "That's a fact, Jack. See?" And then just point to the poster.

Hand silk-screened in signed, limited editions by plainMADE. Discovered via the Summer Social blog, as she's also responsible for creating their gorgeous event poster. (Which is, by the way, an event you Portlanders are going to want to attend on July 25th. And that's a fact, Jack.)

Happy Weekend!

I'm calling it a week early! Since it's Independence Day on July 4th here in the US and most everybody is getting tomorrow off, I decided to take it off too. In the meantime, here are some "fireworks" to celebrate the 4th with. Fireworks of a different sort, uh huh...

Fireworks

I am so in love with this piece by Erika Somogyi called Divining Light, words cannot even express. It must be on my wall, it must. And do you see what's causing the "fireworks" I mentioned above? Take a peek at the close up:

Fireworks2

Awwww! I love this so much! Well, I hope you find some fireworks of your own this weekend, whether they're the light in the sky 4th of July kind or the sparks of love romantic kind ;) See you Monday!

Hope you're having a sunny Monday wherever you are! And if you're not, just imagine you're here in this photo, enjoying the long yellow glow of summer. It's by Olivia Bee, one of the most talented 15-year-olds I've come across in a long time. Her entire photostream is breathtaking. Really.

Roll & Tumble Press

Rollandtumble
Check out these new prints from Roll & Tumble Press- each of the designs are hand-cut into linoleum and paired with hand-set type, then letterpressed one at a time on a 50 year old Vandercook press. They're a great mix of vintage and contemporary styling. I featured that "Take a Gamble" one specifically for my best friend Clara- are you reading Clarabear? Time for you to roll those dice! ;)
