Let us begin.

Well, it's the dawn of a new era for my web existence; I've started a new blog, a new motivation to get up in the morning, and a new outlet for all my "free time" at work.  Modish was created to bring you, the potentially avid reader and already voracious shopper, a supply list of sorts of the best that the indie craft movement has to offer.  You'll find goods that span the globe and the imagination, from jewelry and handbags to apparel and greeting cards, every featured product will be handmade, and every featured company, independent.  I'll bring you fab indie finds every day, a new featured site every week and shopping guides around the holidays.  So join me in my grand new adventure to keep up on the latest indie styles and help support the intense creativity and drive behind the independent business movement (and perhaps find some cute stuff to buy too.)  Well, it's nice meetin' ya.  I hope this will be the beginning of a long friendship.

Peace,
Jena

Great site - great philosophy. I'll be checking back often to see what fabulous crafty things you have uncovered.

Your philosphy is appealing..The other day I was in a Mall parking lot and we noticed that out of 40 or 50 stores, they were all major chains ONLY! It was sickening to realize that nothing new, nothing independent, nothing out of the ordinary was going to be seen or discovered -- NOTHING..so it is good to see you.

Thanks Lou! I know what you mean- malls have become depressing to me seeing the same stuff over and over in every store. Well, thanks for stopping by and saying hello!

I didn't know about Modish until our friend at Cahoots Handbags mentioned it in her blog - glad to have checked you guys out. Kudos to you for recognizing the indie guys!

Will keep checking your site!

Brilliant Blog!

So happy I stumbled and fell down here! Love, love, love!

I will bookmark and come back to peek in the mornings over my cup of brown.

nice site, great products! - but i wonder about the name? Your intro says you are against anything mass produced and consumed - but the definition of "Mod" in terms of style IS "mass produced and consumed." -- "Mod" and "Indie" actually have completely opposite meanings!

Hey thanks! Well, the name was something I thought about a lot actually. "Modish" (mode-ish) simply means stylish, fashionable, "of the mode" etc. and the blog shows just how stylish (or modish) "indie" things can be, helping to illustrate that you can stay in style and keep up with current trends without having to purchase mass-produced goods. Indie IS modish, stylish, fashionable. I'm not sure where your derivation of "mod" is coming from, but it in no way implies mass-production. If anything, the "mod" movement itself was in opposition to tradition, it was a sub-culture, and thus is completely in line with the "indie" movement. :)

AH - "MODE-ish". That makes more sense. I never would have thought to spell that word out. good show.

I also would have thought 'Mod' as in "The Mods" - I guess that would make more sense, except that in those terms "Mod" is already an ironic appropriation of "The Modern." but still, good show.

Love the blog. I clicked over to several of the blogs and found a whole new world. keep up the amaizng work.

lovely blog...will check in often

I LOVE YOUR BLOG!
